CAPE OF GOOD HOPE HIKING TRAIL
For those who enjoy Nature and want to wander a little off the beaten track to explore and experience the spectacular unique Flora and Fauna found within the SOUTH PENINSULA REGION, then this Tour, cannot be missed.
Starting in Cape Town, you head out from the City through the Constantia Winelands, all along the False Bay Coastline to Simon’s Town, stopping off at Boulders Beach to catch a glimpse of the regal African Penguin doing what they do best, swimming and relaxing. During August to November, this coastline gives you superb opportunities to watch the awesome Southern Right Whale frolicking in False Bay, within a few hundred metres of the Shore. From the Penguins, your next highlight is Cape Point Nature Reserve.
Here you have ample opportunity to explore, from walks along the spectacular white sandy beaches to rambles over the rocky coastline. Places you visit within the Reserve are known for their diverse plants, birds and wildlife. You take a walk up to the old Cape Point Lighthouse, followed by a short hike to Good Hope Rock, the south-westernmost point of Africa. Look out for Eland, Zebra, Bontebok, Ostrich, Baboon, Dolphins, Seals and Whales along the way. The pristine Fynbos vegetation found in this 7 700 hectare National Park is a mystery to many, as the animals, plants and birds flourish and flower all through the year, despite the harsh climate.
